Welcome to the first ever Aptos Ecosystem Fundamentals quest! This week we are introducing you to Aptos Name Service, also known as ANS.
What is ANS?
The Aptos Name Service (ANS) is a decentralized naming address service for the Aptos blockchain. It allows Aptos users to use a human-readable .apt name for their Aptos wallet address instead of their public key.
ANS aims to improve the user experience by providing streamlined onboarding through human-readable addresses, making it easier to send and receive funds while reducing the likelihood of fraud and human error. ANS also allows users to set target addresses for their Aptos names and register subdomains.
How to get an Aptos Name
To get an Aptos name, users can log into their Aptos wallet, search for a name, register it for a 1-year rental period, and update the target address. The Aptos Names Integration Library is a front-end library that simplifies the integration of Aptos Names into ecosystem projects, enabling dApps in the Aptos ecosystem to provide a drastically improved user experience to their users.
You can register an Aptos Name at https://www.aptosnames.com
